COMMENTS AND ARE THERE OTHERS OUT THERE WHO FISH AND PLAY MUSIC?

I want to thank those folks that comment. As the blog titles says, I like to fish and I like to listen to, compose and play music. I like the rehearse music. I like to play live music. I like to learn to play new musical instruments. It's something I look very forward to doing, and in me at least, music soothes the savage beast. Like writing often does.

And I've got some regulars reading this blog, but I don't know much about them. I get some strong drop-in readers when I post about things like Jon and Kate or drummer Rod D'Ath. Google searches lead these people to me, and some of them are coming back.

I don't care if anyone posts anonymously. I'm just happy they are posting, But I'd love to know where they're from, and perhaps a screen name so I can tell the returning visitors. I don't have the time or the interest to check times and StatCounter or ip addresses or that stuff. I barely have time to do what I do.

So some of my questions for you are, are you a fisherman AND a musician? Or are you one or the other? Or neither? I'm just curious. So if you're reading any of this blather, I'd love to hear where you're at, and what you do, and what you like or don't like about my blathering on about fish and fishing and music.

And I'd love to know if there are other folks like me who, although not famous, have derived immense satisfaction from making music over the years, and you still do it even though you work a "real" job and have a family and can't tour.

And do you like fishing? Do you ever combine fishing trips with weekend jam sessions with friends? If so, do you record them like I do? Do you really look forward to these weekends with the boys?

I'd love to know if, like the other side of me, you do a lot of music playing at home. Recording on Garageband or standalone multitrackers, as I like to do. I've become so enamored with Garageband that I sold my six track analog multitrack. I still have my DAT for mastering, but it too has largely been replaced by direct to disc CDR recording on my CDR deck.

I play enough bass, guitar and keyboards to be able to pull off some good licks, but not well enough to keep them up flawlessly for an entire 3 or 4 minute song. The looping features on GB really make my song writing go much faster, and sound much better. DO you find this to be true as well?

I think it'd be nice to be able to hide out at some remote location with some mics, recording gear and instruments with some good friends and do some uninterrupted recording. I haven't enough of that lately. Do you ever do this, get with friends and take off on a weekend jam and hunting/fishing/hanging out trip?

Just wondering...
