UT SHOOTER: ANOTHER REASON TO HAVE A CHL
At UT today, apparently a local 19 year old who attends classes went berserko and stormed campus wearing all black with an AK-47. CHL holders who work, attend college or teach should be allowed to carry on campus. It's happened other places, and now at "THE" University in Texas.

Discussing this with a co-worker today, she felt it's an epidemic and that once such an event like Columbine occurred, it'll never stop happening. And she's right. It's happened all over the nation, in colleges and workplaces.
You are responsible for your own safety. You will not have a warning when you may need to defend your life against someone like this shooter. When it's you or him, are you gonna let him make the decision as to who lives and dies, or do you want some input in that decision?

Know the feeling well. In my first year at the Smith County courthouse we had a shooter kill two people and wound three others with an AK before the cops finally killed him. I still recall sitting in court when the shooting started. Over a hundred rounds expended between the shooter and the police. Glass breaking, people screaming. I was wondering if it was someone coming for the guy involved in my hearing, who was serving two life sentences for a double homicide and wishing I had my .45 nearby. I'll never be caught empty-handed again.
ReplyDeleteWell said, MW. Many of my friends with the Smith Co. DA's office were in that courthouse that day, as well as a dear friend who is an AG investigator. Luckily, no one I know was hit.
ReplyDeleteAs a fellow prosecutor, I also wonder about the scenario that you experienced, and I can well imagine the thoughts running through your mind in that hearing. And yes, primarily, I carry a .45 because they don't make a .46.
